5:15 AM.  Still very humid this morning. I started off slow mostly because I was still half asleep.  I made an effort to speed up each half mile.  I was mostly successful.  It was really nice to get this out of the way so I can now enjoy the rest of the day.

I went to bed last night knowing I had to meet someone @ 5AM for a run. I was so worried that I’d oversleep that I woke up every 30-45 min. I woke up wide awake around 4AM after having a dream that I was getting ready for work. I looked down at my watch and saw the time read 7:30 and I slept through our run. I really need to get a life.

The temp was nice this morning 77 degrees but the humidity was still oppressing 99%. I asked a friend for help doing more hilly runs. Well, I got what I asked for. Not only did we do nothing but hills, we did it faster than I would have pushed myself had I’d been running solo….on a flat road. I’m feeling a bit tired this morning but still I’m glad to have this run completed.

I’m looking forward to sleeping in (6:30AM) tomorrow morning.

So to escape the humidity I decided to run in the evening.  I see the choices are basically run in the morning when the temps are high 70s and nearly 100% humidity or run at night where the temps are 99 and humidity is 62%.  Honestly, they both make for a challenging run.

I had got up early this morn and had a busy day at work.  I finally made it out of the house around 9PM.  I had decided earlier in the day that I wanted to do 6 miles today.  I was soooooooo tired just before I went out for a run.  So to remedy that I downed a red bull and left.  It was still sooooo hot.  I had to sit down after 3.6 miles to cool off.

I ran into our neighborhood watch while I was out.  It was very comforting to see we actually have one and we do more than just post signs.

I made it back home and sat under the ceiling fan until my internal thermostat finally felt normal. I finally hit the sack around 11PM and slept like a baby.

6AM, 82 degrees, 97% humidity.  No breeze.  I think what make today fun was the amount of griping (done very humorously) about the heat and our lack of sanity of being out there.

I might have mentioned this before but we are crewed every Saturday by a wife of one of our Saturday runners.  Today this lady was a true God send.  Just about the time we were all going to pass out from heat exhaustion we'd turn the corner and **poof** there was Joanne with ice cold gatoraid in cups handing them out to us.  I love that woman.  Her hubby (our group organizer) had a rough time today and called it quits at mile 8.6.  It was his 68th b-day so we didn't give him grief....this time.  Luckily some time in the AC car help perk him up.
